Phoenix Rising

I have always identified closely with the phoenix.

It represents destruction, rising from the ashes, and reinvention.

My life has been all about this theme. Despite all the challenges I've faced in my life, no matter how many times my dreams have collapsed, I have found a way to come back and become something new. Not the exact same thing I was before, because that isn't possible.

Even the phoenix doesn't do that. Before it dies in a conflagration, it is one thing. After it is reduced to ash, it is reborn, but as something new and different.

Like the phoenix, I rise. No matter what comes along. Eventually the day will come when I must say goodbye, but the energy that is me will still be out there somewhere, rising above it all.
